The 7 Chakras
A quick overview on the main Chakras.
Chakras, are energy points in our body that run from the sacrum to the top of our head. This chakra system as we know it, originated in India in the Vedas text. In Sanskrit, chakra means “Wheel” or “disk” and refers to the spinning energy ports in our body that house certain nerve bundles and major organs.
The reason we strive to open or balance the chakras is so that we can live a life full of joy, with the knowledge that contrast still exists, and we can navigate any obstacle with ease, knowing it’s temporary and we have full control of our lives.
Sounds easy, but it can be very challenging to align all of our chakras and have them fully open at all times. Think of a monk who has spent their entire life meditating, the modern human would have a very hard time being in that same state of mind. We created a super simple guide to the chakras, what could be blocking them, and simple things we can do to help us open them up. Keep in mind, that this is a step towards getting to know yourself, so you might discover trapped traumas that will not be released with these simple steps, at least not right away. There are a plethora of modalities to release trauma, so we encourage you to do some research before trying any of them.
Root Chakra / Muladhara
The Root Chakra sits at the base of the spine. It is responsible for our sense of survival, trust, safety and security and feeling grounded. It is our foundation, and everything in our life, including habits and values, that gives us a sense of security. Think of what makes you feel safe, and what you cannot get rid of or stop doing, even if it’s not good for you. Bad habits are hard to get rid of, because we know what to expect of them, so our unconscious mind thinks they are keeping us safe from worse things or from feeling uncomfortable. This often leads to mental dysfunctions that we create or adopt as coping mechanisms. This chakra is associated with the element of earth, so take your shoes off and dig them into the dirt!

This means, we can all tune in to our psychic and extra sensory abilities, though some of us rather not, for it may be too much to bear. Once we are able to see other dimensions, we see everything, including the darkness, and that may be intimidating for some. Intuition and remembering our dreams on the other hand, can be very helpful guides in our daily lives. There is no element associated with this chakra, but harmonizing all the chakras below, can allow our third eye to open, since we would have a strong foundation, belief system and emotional stability, to support such perception of the world we think we know.

The crown chakra is directly connected to the root chakra by an energy path called Sushumna, where our kundalini energy runs/rises through, once activated. In simple words, the crown chakra is activated when we are able to embody the lower planes, (our human instincts and behaviors), and connect them with our light body or connection to source, transcending human boundaries and therefore reaching enlightenment.
